Throughout the English-speaking world, many Easter traditions are similar with only minor differences. For example, Saturday is traditionally spent decorating Easter Eggs and hunting for them with children on Sunday morning, by which time they have been mysteriously hidden all over the house and garden.
But the fun part of Easter is spending it with family and friends, have a good time and laughing.
The chocolate part isn't bad either - so are the days off work...LOL ( am I bad for saying this ?)
But the real meaning is that Easter is a spring festival that celebrates the central event of the Christian faith: the resurrection of Christ three days after his death by crucifixion. Easter is the oldest Christian holiday and the most important day of the church year. All the Christian movable feasts and the entire liturgical year of worship are arranged around Easter.
Easter Sunday is preceded by the season of Lent, a 40-day period of fasting and repentence culminating in Holy Week, and followed by a 50-day Easter Season that stretches from Easter to Pentecost.
