At this time, Just three miners remain underground in northern Chile as the landmark rescue operation continues.
Raoul Enrique Bustos Ibanez was the 30th miner to reach the surface of the San Jose mine just after 10.30am AEDT today.
He followed Juan Carlos Aguila Gaeta, Richard Villarroel Godoy, Franklin Lobos and Claudo Acuna this morning as the world continued to watch on, mesmerised.
The miners spent at least 69 days 600 metres underground after the upper galleries of the gold and copper mine collapsed on August 5.
But it was the emergence of the 21st miner - and the women who waited for him - that enthralled the world overnight. -not sure if he was very happy about this televised event!
Yonni Barrios, 50, stepped out of the rescue capsule to be embraced by his mistress, Susana Valenzuela.
His wife of 28 years, Marta Salinas, was not at the mine.
She and Valenzuela came to blows weeks ago when both claimed to be the woman Barrios was pining for as he sat trapped in the mine.
In the end, Salinas declined Barrios’s invitation to be present alongside Valenzuela when the miner was winched to the surface. I wonder why???? Duh!
Watched it this morning and tonight and since i'm presently PMS ing big time. I keep balling. I'm such a ball of emotions.
Well at least tonight they are safe and sound with their loved ones. Thanks to great work from rescuers.
A day in history to remember!
